Members dirtyragamuffin
If you mean mic pres, well I like my Sytek w/ Burr Brown option. Avalon also kicks ass...
Members Zeromus-X
He mentions distortion and has guitars in his sig, so I'm guessing guitar pre.

Members swingbass
I used to hear alot of people liked the Demeter VTBP-201 bass preamp. Are these no longer any good?
Members cstime
I've been pleased with my ART TPS mike pre, but that's compared with the built-in pre-amps on my Behringer MX2004A that I had been using. Are ART pre-amps considered to be any good? The literature that ART sent along with the unit certainly claimed they were (which I thought was weird - I'd already bought the thing; strange time to try to sell me on it). CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted August 7, 2003 CMS Author Share Posted August 7, 2003 How much you spend doens't necessarily weigh into the equation for preamps. Whether or not the tone fits your requirements does. This is why studios will inventory a bunch of preamps of various types and tones. It's also why the ART TPS, and Tech 21 Sansamp products are so popular. Reliable, versatile, inexpensive. That's a winning combination. But if you really have your heart set on spending $4,000, I'll never try to stop you.
