Members drummer_jay
We have two mackie 1530's and two mackie 1500 subs. We've pushed them hard in the past with no trouble. However, there is this one place we pay and everytime we play there, the thermal lights start blinking everyonce in awhile in the second set. We are actually not pushing them as hard as we have at other bars, so I'm left to guess it's the {censored}ty power in this place? It's an old old building with old old power. Could that cause this? If so, what the hell can we do to help this? We can't afford to turn down because it's a big ass bar with lots of room to cover and we barely do that the way it is. ideas?? Thanks, jason
Members agedhorse
Depending on how the reference voltage is generated for the thermal sense circuit, a lower power voltage, or a changing voltage could indeed cause the symptom you are seeing, especially as the amp gets hot. If the amp does not go into protect, you are probably ok.... but this shows that you are getting close to the speaker's limits in that situation. Members Island
Try some small fans pointed at the back of the speakers, this sometimes helps.
