Members hubb
i got a mackie cr1604 and the main output of these is 1/4 inch and the input on the mackie sr1530's is a xlr input. the question is: do i just get a 1/4 inch to xlr cable, or do i have to have any kind of special equimet in between in there, since there is a high Z to lowZ thing goin on. this has to be a pretty common problem but i can't get any staight answers. Members ashivraj
nope, nothing funky going on. they're both balanced; they're both line-level; so you're fine with a simple 1/4" TRS > MXLR cable. if you need distance, just throw on ordinary mic cables after that first adapter cable. CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted August 15, 2003 CMS Author Share Posted August 15, 2003 I'd just like to clarify this. There's no high- vs low-z thing on that output. The 1/4" TRS is a "stereo" cable end, not the common instrument cable you'd use for a guitar. It's got two conductors inside the shield, so it's a balanced low-z connection.
