I will drive it with a Firebass 700 at 4ohms

which is 475w

Does any body know if the cab will take it?

It probably won't be tuned right, but that has nothing to do with your question. It depends on the cab. What is it made of,how is it constructed and held together, etc?

I just built a bass cab almost exactly like you described! I built it out of 3/4" ply, with 1/2" ply front and back panel. I used a reconed PEAVEY BW 1502-4. I put two 2.5 inch ports in the front panel, below the speaker. I covered it with Tolex, put on the metal corners, and two recessed handles on the sides, It came out a little heavier than I wanted, but it's manageable. I ended up with about $ 90 bucks in the whole cab!

I power it with an old Acoustic 220 Bass head(bought on E-Bay for $ 83 bucks). My regular bass player told me the other night, after playing thru it, that it was the "cleanest-sounding bass rig he had ever played thru"(He plays a '62 P-Bass that he bought new, so he's played a FEW gigs.).

Hey, everyone says don't bother to build your own cabs, but mine was a very rewarding project with a fine outcome!
