Members lucho_84
is bridging amps good or bad? what are the pro's and con's to bridging versus stereo or parallel? i honestly never thought about that. thanx!
Members J.
There's nothing wrong with bridging an amp, as long as the amp itself can take it. The fault usually lies with the operator of said amp. Scenario: you have an amp powering two 8 ohm speakers, one per side. You decide you want to run said amp at 4 ohms bridged, running the two speakers in parallel. You figure, "hey! more power!" It works for awhile and then an uncontrolled wave of feedback zaps your drivers. Lotsa times people overpower their stuff.
Members Tommy Tune
Id' say....bridge it IF you know what you're doing. If you don't, eventually, you'll be sorry.
