CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted March 15, 2007 CMS Author Share Posted March 15, 2007 The amp class is simply a general way to describe the type of circuitry used in the amp. As usual, Wikipedia has a pretty good description: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_amplifier
Members agedhorse
There is no class C in audio. It's reserved for non-linear RF work.

Hm, maybe we should try a class C with guitar players. It sure as heck gives plenty of distortion and is an old (=vintage) design. Smells like a good business opportunity

I actually tried this, both alone and mixing back with thenoriginal signal. Plenty of high ordered distortion, but rather "non-musical". And if it had worked, it would have indeed been a good business opportunity!

Sounds like the perfect match for most guitar players
