Members agedhorse
Eithe of those amps will work fine... don't even bother w/ the CE-1000. There is a distinct advantage to the 6 subs over 4 of equal power. You will be operating at a lower point on the driver's power curve, increasing efficiency by decreasing power compression that would occur if you were driving each box harder. You also gain some sensitivity by the effective increase in baffle area and the increased radiating surface. This will lower the cutoff frequency a little bit too. The other advantage is that your system becomes more scaleable.
Members tlbonehead
To me, a system sounds soooo much better when you have more speaker area operating well within its limits than when you have a similar overall volume through less speaker area and being pushed closer to or at its collective limit.
