Members jsuller
My band is planning to get a mixer for small gigs (we would like to have at least 16 XLR inputs and effects built-in): We are considering these 2 options: PEAVEY 24 FX MIXER http://www.thomann.de/es/peavey_24_fx_mixer.htm YAMAHA MG 24/14FX http://www.thomann.de/es/yamaha_mg2414fx_livemischpult.htm Any experience with them? You can record rehearsals or gigs into mp3 with Peavey mixer directly into a usb device -which can be handy-, but does Yamaha offer you better quality? (it's a bit more expensive) We want something which, apart from quality, is user-friendly since we plan to mix small gigs by ourselves. Thanks

Members jsuller
oops, here's a link:http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Allen-Heath-MixWizard3-162-Mixer-?sku=634105 It looks really good, but this mixer costs twice as much as the Yamaha or Peavey in Spain (1300 Euros). That's beyond our budget.
Members jwlussow
What he said...... Look for it used. It blows those others away.
Members Zeromus-X
What he said......Look for it used. It blows those others away. If it's selling for 1300 euros over there, that's $1,836.00 US. I doubt you'll find one used in decent condition for less than $1000! We use a Peavey PV24 mixer that cost about $400 bucks if I remember right, and it does everything we need it to for on-stage mixing. I believe ours has the USB capabilities too but we've never tried it, the PA mix isn't exactly going to sound good recorded direct since there's really no drums in it except the kick! Members pharmboyjoe
They are $999 new here....wonder what hassles shipping would involve? Wonder what they cost in UK?

Members Rbts
I just don't get it... it just seems like all those mixers with the British EQs ought to cost less the closer you get to England?
Members agedhorse
Maybe the Brits know something we don't about getting that stuff out of their country.
Members sol-city
I agree. Save for the A&H and you will not be sorry.
Members abzurd
I've used neither, but Peavey has some pretty slick features and overall reputation for reliability, which is as important as quality in a live setting. If it doesn't work you don't play that night.
Members Crownman
I work on the same 24 Yamaha board all the time. It's a great board. Also, the built in effects are pretty much the old SPX990 built in. there aren't as many parameters and you can't store settings but the effects sound very good. I usually cringe when I see a board with built in effects but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these myself if I needed one. I also like the fact that they retun the effect to a fader without sacrificing any of the channels.
Members gruvjack
Maybe the Brits know something we don't about getting that stuff out of their country. You're telling me. I live in Malaysia. Electronics products made here cost more here than in the Middle East. V.
