Members thinderik
I was just wondering if they sell attachments for stands so that you can somehow angle the speaker @ a down angle? Hope this is not a stupid question.
Members flanc
Yorkville makes something inexpensive. http://www.long-mcquade.com/products/4445/ formuite Mike Pyle also sells this or something similar at www.audiopyle.com or for something more adjustable, K&M makes a speaker tilter: http://www.google.com/products?rlz=1C1CHMB_enUS312US312&sourceid=chrome&q=k%26M+speaker+tilter&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=dM-_SqzeIore8QaSrtC9AQ&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=
Members RoadRanger
Just be aware that many PA speakers have horns that have a built-in 10 degrees down tilt already even if you can't easily see it - check your speaker's specs . Members whataracket
Also, unless you are talking about a really light weight speaker on strong stands, this may not be a good idea. The pole sockets on a speaker are located so that the pole is below the center of gravity of the speaker. When you tilt it forward with a simple angle fitting, you are shifting the CG forward of the pole. If it's a heavy speaker and a lightweight stand is extended high, this can overload the pole in bending and make it buckle. It also will make the stand less stable. It puts bending loads on the socket and its mounting as well. I would instead look for the dual-hole sockets like JBL uses on the SRX712 (and MRX?). This places the tilted hole forward of the straight hole, hopefully located fairly close to where it needs to be to put the CG over the pole. Members thinderik
Flanc thank you for your advice on K&M. I think a brand name is what i really needed to aid my google search! =) Whataracket, you were correct about the CG and is something i gave alot of thought to. I would draw you a picture and post it but feel it would take to long. But I found this and believe that it will help with the CG. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/505102-REG/K_M_19672_000_55_19672_Speaker_Tilt_Connector.html Thanks again guys. Your advice helps me navigate all this stuff very easy.
Members VanR
Use sandbags on your stands if you must do this.
Members thinderik
i have ultimate support stands, they can fly up to 9' which i would never use its kinda over kill. but the lowest they go is like 5-6'. The legs on them go out super wide also. I'll make sure to be very careful and sandbags sound like a good idea.
