Members Unalaska
Just bored and wondered what else is happening out there. 2 of my sound buddies are not working this year and the band I usually play with just picked up something. I'll be playing a wedding in tacoma and have another rig used at the columbia tower (76th floor, load in sux). Another band is renting just equipment from me and they're getting 4x JBL SP128's and 2x SP225's. That gig is $15 at the door while the other is $100. Location makes the difference. Anyway it'll be a loooong day, but I get to play upright bass on a jazz gig so that's fun. The load in's won't be though.
Members Unalaska
And my band that I'm not playing with is getting a bare bones PA too: Mixwiz, 4 monitors on 3 mixes. Monitor amp rack only (2x CX502, 2x DBX231) using ch1-3 for monitors and the 4th mix will be repurposed to Mono mains: 800w @ 2 into 2x Turbosound TD252's. That party is 100 people max in seattle. At least the lighting I gave them is decent, but the budget was small.
Members abzurd
We're doing a benefit for The Stephanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer. She was the wife of former Ohio State and NFL player, Chris Spielman. Sadly she passed away this year from breast cancer. I think it was the the 4th time she'd had it. Anyway, the party itself isn't huge, probably 150 people. Our PA and lights.
Members flanc
We're doing a place that we do 5 or 6 times a year. Good crowd, good food, good pay....good times. :-)
Members jgthatsme
My band is playing a large, open to the public party at a local banquet facility. We play it a few years in a row (this is our second year this time 'round), and then they go with a different band for a few years, etc. We played the same facility at the turn of the last decade. The acoustics of the room suck but there are usually anywhere from 500 - 600 people so that helps.
Members Axisplayer
the band I work almost exclusively for is working a local facility open to the public also. It has an auditorium sized stage. 100x100 dance floor and then seats almost 500. My PA and lights, 3x pay for everyone in the band and me. Folks there have hired us 3 years in a row for more money every year, treat us decent, and we have fun. Can't do much better than that.
Members Shamdog
Nothing on NYE...Getting drunk. Playing at our bass player's sisters' house on the 2nd, though.
Members boomerweps
Ya, 3-4x the pay, playing a large Banquet hall at a local Moose club. Played it a few times, last couple years went to another band but we're back. We set up early in the day, use double our normal lighting. Members 6Imzadi
Doing the Crowne Plaza in Tulsa main ballroom. Check it here. Nothing very special, we just have fun. Going to be a great time again. Load in is relatively nice and easy. Open the freight elevator front and back and wheel it into the room. Too bad we can't fit the trailer in there(the elevator). We bring everything in the day before so any issues can be resolved. So, here in a hour or so, we get to set up. I am going to borrow a pair of speakers from a friend. That should be fun. His inside of mine, as you look at them. Should connect right to mine using his cables, but all my amps. It's more than normal for the band, but not like 4x more. Lord, that would be 8k if it was. The place is nice and big. There is another band on the second floor as well. Last 2 years, we pretty much took all the people and fit them in to the ball room. We felt bad for the other band. Members The Chinese
Running Sound for Permitted Warehouse party - 500 peeps. Making some OK scratch, but having a {censored} ton of fun, building Rep. Taking the LA400's & LA325's. There will also be a pair of LA128's, and I don't know if I will use them or not, depends on the room and how I can set everythign up, because i know that is a PITA to get right (and may not be possible to get right...). Also have a pair of Mackie SRM1530's. It'll be fun. hehe
Members Dogoth
I had a chance to gig as a musician and make more money than my casino gig pays by far (the casino pays an extra 8 hours holiday pay, otherwise it's just another day). The strange thing about my job is the marketing aspect. The club figures we are already going to have a big crowd in the house gambling (our entertainment rarely directly makes money, It's just promo), so why hire big name acts? My new years will be spent mixing for a mid level regional act for not much extra money (of coures the HUGE up side is, the next week I don't have to look for more work, I'm fully employed :>). If they DID hire a bigger name though, they possibly could have brought their own monitor engineer (or even monitor system) and I could have possibly escaped away to play drummer for an extra $350. No Complaints though, business is business. Happy New Year to all (that regulate your lives by the roman judo/christian calander). Otherwise, Have a good day anyway. Members SpaceNorman
No NYE gig for me this year. It was a conscious decision. Neither of my projects felt like working this year. Instead - I'm gonna spend in my sweat pants and t-shirt at home - eating fondue washed down with copious quantities of wine. I fully expect to be fast asleep before I'm 30 minutes into 2010. Members Unalaska
Outdoor show with some PRX cabs and an LS9-32. Supposed to be -15 with the windchill. Good times Yeah, my 01V hates the cold. The LCD screen is real slow, eventually it gets better. It also sux outdoors in the daylight, I can see the buttons lit up! Then again my soundcraft LX7 (original) is bad to work with in low light, everything is too dark. Oh well...

(i cant explain how, dont understand it myself). the ride home was -28F at 3am upped my rate to 4x for NYE and took the next year off. this year my band is playing.
