Members Mr Blues
I have heard a lot about the Audio technica artist elite 500 series.I did have the Audio technica ATM 710. I made a silly mistake , i plugged it in with the Phantom Power on and it blew the mechanics. At present I have the AKG C 535 which has a nice crisp sound. Any other users of the Audio tech AE5400? What is that like for live vocals. Would you say it was similar to the Shure Beta 87a ? Dave
Members TimmyP
Great sounding mic. Like the KMS105, VX10, PR22, KSM9, and other superior sounding mics, it picks up everything on the stage. They are all useful in only very certain circumstances IME. (I've never used the 535.) Members agedhorse
Plugging the 710 in with phantom on should not have hurt the mic. How old is it? Call Audio Technica and ask to speak to the service department. Explain what happened and see what it will cost to repair if out of warranty. It may not be that expensive. The 5400 is awfully bright, more than the 87A even. Really not my favorite choice on a PA that has good high end without a fair amount of eq. I would look at the AE series dynamics myself. Members dboomer
I like it a lot. It has what I'd call a crisp low end (even though that doesn't sound like it makes sense). Very clean
