Great Speakers From Yesteryear?

I'm currently looking to upgrade the tops on my system. I previously owned a an active system comprising of HPR122's and RCF705s. Wasn't entirely impressed with either but i guess the did the job they had to for a while.

 

Anyway, I'm now moving to a passive system. I have the low frequencies sorted courtesy of Thomann's own branded subs ('The Box Pro'). They are a couple of 2x18's and they are some serious piece of kit! Roughly 95KG each (ouch) but sound immense (pain reliever!)

 

I'm struggling with tops. I think the quality of speaker my ear finds acceptable is in the

For just plain loud for the buck, EAW KFs are pretty affordable now.

 

 

The 850 can be a bit much for 2-3 guys to lift. If you can live with a tad less output, the KF 650 is the way to go.

 

The older Meyer UPAs are also a safe bet if the drivers are in good condition. The controllers go for gold on Ebay.
