I previously owned a an active system comprising of HPR122's and RCF705s. Wasn't entirely impressed with either but i guess the did the job they had to for a while. Anyway, I'm now moving to a passive system. I have the low frequencies sorted courtesy of Thomann's own branded subs ('The Box Pro'). They are a couple of 2x18's and they are some serious piece of kit! Roughly 95KG each (ouch) but sound immense (pain reliever!) I'm struggling with tops. Members oldschooler Posted January 21, 2010 Members Share Posted January 21, 2010 For just plain loud for the buck, EAW KFs are pretty affordable now. The 850 can be a bit much for 2-3 guys to lift. If you can live with a tad less output, the KF 650 is the way to go. The older Meyer UPAs are also a safe bet if the drivers are in good condition. The controllers go for gold on Ebay.
