Members blitzcw
I have an old peavey xr-800 mixer. Faders were dirty. Cleaned them with contact cleaner, they are dry and a little hard to move right now. What should i lube them with. Think household items. Vaseline? Im not worried bout dust buildup. Members srp72ee
Other that a simple low powered vacuum, you shouldn't do anything.
Members blitzcw
Ok, all i did was simply clean them with contact cleaner. That had no effect on the 30 years of buildup. So i unsoldered the faders, and took them apart, cleaned them thouroughly. Resoldered them, and look at that, no more problem!
Members Coaster
for now.
Members dennis a
Vaseline will work fine for lubrication but must be put on very thin....having said that, the correct call for 30 year old faders is replacement. Dennis
Members RoadRanger
I believe they are normally lubed with a silicone grease?
Members agedhorse
Ugh. The only material we have ever had success with is CAIG R-5 or DeOxit. Onlt a tiny amount. Contact cleaner is the wrong stuff for the job, you just stripped al the lube out of the ways, and may have damaged the conductive elements. Nothing but R-5 or de-oxit on the element and fingers, silicon grease (small amount) on the mechanical ways.
