Members Dukey
Hi folks, On March 20 we're gonna do a double gig with another band. Both bands (coverbands doing songs from the late fifties to contemporary stuff) will be fully miked, we (5 guys en 1 gal) have el.drums, keyboards, Bass 2nd 2x guitar. The other band Normal drums, bass 2x guitar & 3 male vocalists. Venue (indoor) will hold upto 250/300 peeps max. Last year we used our own PA (2x 15"sub & 2x 15"top -1.3 kW - never needed to work any harder then 75%), this year we will rent speakers/amps only (Our mixer (A&H PA28) has more then enough channels/possibilities). We planned on renting 2x QSC HPR151i subs & 2x QSC HPR121I tops. Unfortunately rental company sold that set to a very satisfied customer (Damn, wish it was me . . .). As alternative we're offered 2x JBL SRX718S as subs, 2x JBL SRX715S as tops and an amp rack with 1x Crown IT6000, 1x Crown IT4000 and a DSP. We didn't hear the QSC set and we know JBL has its merits. QSC set was around E.100,00 (About US$ 135,00), JBL set will be around E.140,00 (about US$ 190,00) for the day. Need your opinions/experiences (if any) and possible comparison. All musicians (except our ladysinger) are way over 40 (so'll be 75% of our audience) and very experienced musicians (we all play since our early teens) - we don't plan to push the JBL's very hard so your thoughts / advice is very much appreciated. Tks in advanceGreetzWill
Members allexcosta
My thoughts: - Using 75% of any system is a lot, already.- JBL system will sound better if well processed. - Ask if they have 712's instead of 715's. I've heard both on top of 718's and the 712's sound better.
Members agedhorse
The SRX stuff will be a better sounding system (if properly processed) IMO.
