Members saxmaneddie
I own a pair of JBL SR 4719x subs for large jobs. I need to get a set of subs for smaller jobs to go with the MRX 515 tops I have. I have a deal working on a clean set of JBL MPro 418s subs. Which subs would be better the MRX 518s or MPro 418s subs. Members agedhorse
Both are similar, I like the size/weight/style of the 518's a little better. I think in the real world they perform a little better too.
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted May 13, 2010 CMS Author Share Posted May 13, 2010 Just as an FYI, the Mpro 400 series subs use the same 18" drivers as the SR-X series such as your 4719's. About the only difference from an SR-X was the quality of the plywood in the boxes, and the pricetag.
Members Starboard
I have 4 of the MPro 418S subs. I love the versatility of being able to configure them many different ways depending on the venue (one a side, two a side hoizontally or vertically, center cluster of four). I run them with two Crown PB3s that just keep on kicking. 720w/sub and they sound great. I use a set of 722s on top and it's a nice little club rig. If you don't need the latest and greatest, they are a great sub. I traded a guitar worth about $1000 for all four, and they were in mint condition.
