Members nbaldwin
For the past two years, I have sung with a wireless EV RE410 cardioid condenser mic that I really love. As of lately it has lost a noticeable amount of brightness and clarity that I loved about the mic. Is this experience typical and inevitable? Should I simply purchase another RE410 or is there anything that I can do to return this mic to its original sound (a new wireless is kind of expensive)? Much thanks for any insight and advice. Members trevcda
You can usually replace just the mic capsule. You might also try removing the windscreen and cleaning the foam and the ball and see if it's just clogged with corn nuts and spit. If it's the diaphragm you will generally be back at replacing the capsule. I would expect more than two years from a capsule but the chemistry of what's being sprayed into it nightly along with clumsy band members who don't tell you that they accidently knocked over your mic may have severely shortened its life span.
