Senn e835 mic kits

I'm thinking of ordering a few of the e835 mic kits (mic/stand/cable), and I'm wondering about the quality of the included K&M stand. Is it 1/2 way decent? I'm thinking of using these for back-up vocals (bank of three/ male & female).

If it is a K&M stand, it looks like a 210/6, which is an $60-80 stand.

 

Something smells funny - a $80 stand and a $99 mic for $118?

I saw a display at a music-store recently, but I just glanced at it, and I'm not even certain that this display was in fact the Senn e835 kit. My impression, was that this particular stand looked cheap/flimsy. I wasn't shopping for mics at the time, so I didn't take a closer look. The stand I saw, had no knob, or handle, to tighten the boom angle. Just a slotted screw that you'd have to tighten with a screwdriver.

Selling packages of equipment (at a package price) when each piece is from a different manufacturer is a legal way for retailers to get around MAP prices.

There is also a new and much cheaper K&M stand in the works, or so I heard. That may mean it really is cheap and flimsy.

I purchased an e835 kit a year os so ago. The stand is a K&M stand but not the heavy beast like my other K&M's.

 

The stand seems to be well made but it is quite light, and slightly undersized. I actually use it for my lounge gigs because it's unobtrusive (black) easy to carry on hotel elevators and it functions well.

 

I doubt if I would use it in a band setting for any length of time, but I must say it's better made than many of the budget stands I see out there.

shaster. does the stand have a locking-lever to lock the boom angle? or do you have to use a screwdriver to lock it in place?
