Members Tomm Williams
Does it matter where the mic gets its phantom power when submixing from one board to another? Do both boards need to have it activated?
Members srp72ee
It only needs it from the channel where the mic is directly connected (if I understand your questions correctly). Both boards don't need it engaged.
Members sibyrnes
The purpose of phantom power is to supply power to the mic, so of course the mixer channel that the mic is directly connected to must supply the power.
Members agedhorse
Only the mixer that the mic is connnected to. In fact, the phantom power should be turned off on the channels that the submixer is feeding if you are using the XLR inputs but of course you are using transformer isolation (right?) if that's the case so it won't matter because your mixer is protectected from the effects of phantom power on the balanced output line drivers.
