              Here's a hint:

I spent 8 1/2 hours in a cramped instrumented vehicle and standing on the roadside up and down IH 35 in Waco TX today - on my day off.

Measuring tire and traffic noise makes for some pretty uninteresting "stupid stories."

I want to index this thread, but I can't with the SEARCH function not working. Crap.

                    I'll be back.

                        • Some number of decades ago, when we were all young, we had a small dance club where we played every Saturday night. Our gear was always there.

One Friday night we got a job to play a school dance an hour or so away. We rented a U-Haul, loaded the gear and went to the dance. All there went fine.

When done, we packed up the gear and loaded it back into the U-Haul. It was late and dark. We then drove back. When we got back to the club, and got out of the car, the guitar players Gibson SG, still in the case, was sitting on the U-Haul tong. Somehow it made the trip there and stayed on.

For all future trips, we purchase a few high output lights so not to temp fate anymore

Nothing to do with pro audio, but interesting enough, last year while travelling with my uncle, we were in Toronto on our way home and had just packed everything up in the truck and were ready to go. My uncle had his laptop in his hands out of the bags so he could do some work on the way home (I was driving). I ask him if he's got everything, he confirms, and we're off. About 20 minutes into the ride he asks me where his laptop went, I dunno, maybe he put a bag on top of it or something. He shuffles around the luggage but is unsuccessful so he gives up and decides to take a nap.

About two hours later we arrive home and we start taking the bags out of the truck. Once all the bags are out he says "hunh, I don't see my laptop". I was standing back about 10 feet and he was in front of the rear driver side door, scratching his head looking at me, and right over him, is his shiny new laptop, sitting on the roof of my truck. I point it out to him and we are shocked that it made the 2 hour trip home from Toronto on the roof of my truck, completely unphased.

                              • We did a holiday party last night for a company that enriches uranium. Guitar player gives me a couple of CD's with rock n' roll Christmas tunes to play before we go on. Everything going well until a lovely little ditty called "It's Christmas At Ground Zero"

Actually, nobody mentioned it. I did some very fast fader diving. Pretty funny though.
