    It depends on how the 1/4" jack is wired. Some manufacturers drop the ring connection which can cause problems (mostly going from 1/4" to XLR(M)) but without knowing exactly how it's configured internally, it's a guess.

      Many modern drum brains use two triggers per input, both unbalanced referenced to the sleeve. In any case yes, you want TS.

    Yes, either use a direct box for each channel so the you are isolated from possible damage if phantom power happens to be turned on at the board. This is the proper solution.
