Members Unalaska
First test it against a working 58 using headphones. Just to make sure. Shure has a fixed price to fix mics, send it in with $ and they will repair or replace.
Members Dogoth
The fixed repair price was $40 for years (usually you just end up with a new mic :-). It may have gone up since that service so rarely gets used. Before sending it off though, carefully unscrew the ball and make sure that the foam hasn't deteriorated possibly even fallen onto the diaphragm. Just a thought

Members mkfs9
Reluctant to pull it apart as it does work so not expecting to see a wire of or something simple .
Members agedhorse
Please read Dog's suggestion again, he is not suggesting that you look for s broken wire. Also, try with another cable. Some cable faults can also cause this symptom, though usually low frequency will suffer.

Members agedhorse
Have you re-tested your mic under controlled conditions to be sure it wasn't something else under the pressure of the gig? Otherwise, contact Shure UK,
Members mkfs9
Funny you mention this. At home just a minute ago I took the top of and had a look inside. Plugged in in and it seemed Ok even when compared with another so will see how it goes fingers crossed thanx for your help.
Members agedhorse
Not "funny" at all, it's standard troubleshooting technique. Verify that there is (or is not) a problem before chasing your tail for a phantom. (I do a lot of troubleshooting of complex problems in my professional life). What that tells you is that there is possibly some other inconsistency (gremlin) hiding in your system (faulty channel strip?). Or it could possibly have been a simple oversight like EQ or some insert. Just something to think about. Glad your mic's OK though.
