Members Dookietwo
Did a July 3rd show last night. Band said there was a covered stage and plenty of power. Brought my 6 subs and was using the 2 that they had as well. 3 powered tops and my old sp2's for center fill. Gig is pretty big for what it is. Outside street dance kind of thing. Showed up with a small stage with no cover sitting sideways with 2, 120 volt power cords coming down from the 2nd story building. In the front stage picture you can just see the cords coming down from the 2nd story window. Took a look upstairs to find them both in 1 plug. At least it was a GFI. and both cords were 12 g. Door was not locked for the night just in case. Seeing that the full pa wouldn't run on this I went to plan B. They had a pair of QSC k12s and I had my Peaveys which have pretty good throw so I went with a dual PA after all. I panned the vocals to the QSC speakers and everything else to the sp2s. The subs they had were not too power hungry and I added a set of mine. Sound checked and found with the bass drum set at an ok level I could get by. If I pushed it the lights on my mixer would start to dim with the beat. As far as the Dual PA it was fine. I fould the vocals and instruments didn't sound like they were coming out from different locations unless you were very close to the speakers and even then it sounded good. For mixing different types of speakers in a pinch it worked out very well. I did pan to the center everything and the sound really did falI apart as the 2 speakers just didn't play together well. I'm thinking even with the 2 liked types paired on different sides of the stage they wouldn't have sounded as good because the horns coverage angle just didn't work together well.I was able to cover about 600 people at a good healthy "small town street dance" level. You can see in the picture from stage the people around. There was just as many to the side and behind the stage going down the street. All in all the Dual PA setup worked well in this setup. I may try it again in the future inside. Dookietwo
