Members donkey 12
I recently acquired a powered mixer that has 2 1/4" speaker jacks for each amplfier. Each amplfier can run safely at 4 ohms. Do I need to use both jacks on each side (8 ohm speaker on each), or can I daisy chain the 8 ohm speakers on each side, using only one jack on each amplifier for the 4 ohm load. Below is a an image of the relevant section of the manual and a red circle indicating the jacks in question. Thanks in advance for your help. http://i1160.photobucket.com/albums/q487/m-thirty-great/Powerpod_zpsd2a94bd2.png
Members Pro Sound Guy
Sure you can run from one loudspeaker to another as long as they are both 8ohm.This would be two 8ohm speakers in parallel and that would be a 4ohm loadYou do not have to use all four 1/4 connections.Product over sumR1xR2 / R1+R2 = Rtotal
Members donkey 12
Thanks for the help. I understand how to calculate resistence, what I didn't undertstand well enough was the wiring/configuration of the powered mixer. In other words, I assumed that I could daisy chain the 8 ohm speakers (4 ohm load on each amp is fine), but wanted to confirm that because of the two jacks I wouldn't do any damage. I am struggling to explain this, sorry...
