An alternative to the sm57

For the last couple of years I've been using the EV 308 in situations where a 57 would be right at home. (just about anything) I originally picked these up to replace my Senn 421's that were just too bulky, heavy, fragile, expensive,etc..... In that role (Sax, horns) they have been a fine replacement.  I've been so impressed with this mic that I traded all my 57's to Andy several months back. To me it simply does anything a 57 can do but better. Easier to position, can be found easily under $100 (they're discontinued), a more detailed reproduction and perhaps a bit lighter too. They probably cannot take the abuse like a 57 but I don't treat my gear like that anyway. Given all of it's positive attributes, do believe they are the most useful mics in my locker. If you guys come across one for the right price, don't pass it up.
