New Mixer Midas M32R

I've been thinking of replacing my 01v96 for some time now. Went with a Midas M32r. Stated as having better construction and input / output preamps as well as better faders than the X32 line.

I like the cat5/6 stage boxes as well. Should be a good fit.Small size yet all the processing and inputs (with stage boxes if needed) as the full size M32 but not the weight.

Hey Doug,

Very nice mixer. Hope you get as much out of yours as I get out of my X32 Rack. They are a fine mixer. Check out the plate verb. It is really quite nice. Nice enough to have retired my venerable TC Electronics M-One XL ;)

I was looking hard at the X32 rack. I may still pick one up and use it as a stage box for my M32r and on the smaller shows use it alone. Very multi-purpose box!

The X32 Rack does have a physical interface, just no faders (channel select, then a single knob for channel level). It has the GUI with knobs from the X32 Producer (only a 5" LCD vs 7" LCD on full sized X32). It is usable, but a PITA.

Interesting' date=' but a $500 card with a $700 waves server seems like alot of upgrading to do to a $2000 console to get better efx ;)[/quote']

Well yes and no. If your already into studio work and you have a bunch of plug'in's already then its a reasonable venture. As far as live there is a bunch of plug in's now in the X32/M32 format but this increases this even more. The M32 line has the same preamps as the Pro2 line with a 10 to 20 db headroom depending on frequency compared to the X32 line. In the studio the M line would again benefit with better plug in's and lower latency this affords. Of course with the server you wouldn't have to tote a full size laptop/pc to have these plugin's also. Another take would be if you have larger format consoles but still want quality plugin's when going out with a smaller format desk you could use this system on either one.

When you add a $250 dollar snake and a $2000 dollar stage box for a $4500 system it is really a nice add on. As seen here you can get the whole package at a reasonable price. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MDL32?adpos=1o1&creative=54989553361&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&product_id=MDL32&gclid=CIDyuYim69MCFYiLswod7JAIFQ https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/NCAT5E50M

Write up for the M32 line preamps.

Doug

If you go this way, let me know how the verb sounds compared to the included X/M32 plate (which I find to be pretty good). Maybe this is how Behringer/Music Group is going to say they support plug-in's as was originally stated as "future ability" in the X32/M32 marketing information.

Interesting for sure..... just a bit pricey for the ability to use plug-ins .... at least for my pocket book :) The upgrade at $1500 is 50% more than an X32 Rack which can be had for around $1000. Still, if the verbs are that good, perhaps it would be worth it to some.
