Members Two of Seven
So I'm trying to find out from other owners what their experience has been regarding the amp's noise floor or self noise. Are both channels virtually silent or is there a slight modulating pitch hum in either channel ? I am curious to know what is “normal” for this amp. After 3 trips to Peavey for repair (long story) my amp still has a small modulating pitch hum in channel A only - while channel B is virtually silent. This is with no input connected and no gain on front panel control. In fact the noise is unaffected by anything external. JPLutz
Members Unalaska
Sorry I'm not much help. I've got 3 IPr5000s and they are basically the same as the PLx3402 and Yamaha 7000s as far as noise (nonexistent) and crosstalk (again, can't hear anything). I used the crossover once in the amp, mostly I'm using a drpa upstream with attenuators wide open. No noise, nothing. if I was to guess and it's only a guess, something isn't right with the amp. Have it replaced
