Members DanCostello
I've got a set of powered studio monitors (Event ASP8 http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/apr04/articles/event.htm), and one of them has started acting a bit odd. Often, after playing something on them that's somewhat loud, the left one will start making a sort of popping/thumping noise that sounds like somebody tapping their fingers on the cone. This will last for a couple seconds after I stop playback, then it will stop. The level of the noise is not affected by the volume control on my interface and there are no indications on the interface's meter associated with the noise. I haven't noticed any diminished audio quality or performance stemming from this. Thoughts on what could be the problem? Bonus points if it's fatal and I can use it to justify getting my boss to buy me new ones.-Dan.
Members agedhorse
No idea, but this is the sort of problem that the factory techs have probably seen before, so a call to them might be your most productive route.

Members dboomer
Try using them with a different source and see if your issue continues. Great suggestion. Just because you hear the problem coming from the speaker doesn't necessarily mean that the problem is being generated in the speaker. Basic troubleshooting 101.
