You probably want to refer to these mics as ambience mics or audience mics rather than house mics, otherwise the house guy might think they are his Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Best to use a tight pattern to minimize bleed from the mains and usually the monitor engineer rides then in & out between songs (otherwise the IEMs will sound awful).
