Members Dogoth
Does anyone have any experiance with them? The corporation I'm working for is building a new venue (to replace two closed ones). It's part of a nightclub chain and they spec'd a Roland digital board (not my decision). I don't know which model yet but I'll post an update when I find out. It appears that they are all based around their remote preamp stage box. I have the feeling they are going to ask us (me :-) to make it work with no time to learn the operation of it. There's supposed to be a big grand opening with multiple bands, D.J.'s and other entertainment (mid june). I'd rather it not become a cluster......of mistakes :-). My guess is they are built fairly well (Roland gear seens to hold up). They are just not a mainstream unit (no riders to meet (at this point ;-)) Thanks for any info. Members agedhorse
The folks I know who use them like them. You have to get into the Roland mindet and workflow of course. I would download the manuals and read up! Everythig is based on their remote stagebox & processing, digital snake and such.
Members Scodiddly
The Roland boards never really became fashionable, but they're solid and sound good. Roland is like Yamaha - been making digital stuff (synths and stage pianos) for decades, and they know how to make it roadworthy.
Members OneEng
I haven't heard one, but the navigation looks more like the LS9 (menus with stuff buried). It also relies much more heavily on the iPad control surface as the physical interface is more limited than any other mixer in this category (leaving out the X32 Rack and DL1608). I have heard mixed reviews on the sound quality from those that actually have them. You can do a search and find them easily enough. No scribble strips. Members Dogoth
He JR, I saw an article about your new company's project in the Sacto Bee this morning. Ya they're building a "Gilley's" (mechanical bull and all) into the casino. Originally a local contractor was spec'ing out a system (an X32 - also not my decision) but evidently Gilley's has it's own spec. I'm hoping that we don't end up with used equipment from another franchise. My boss is on vacation so I can't ask anyone about specifics (I got the info I have from the contractor/friend). I really want to get a head start on this one (rather than standard corporate "react - put the fire out" mentality). I'll post more when I know more.
