They did improve the looks, so now they're just a bit ugly. They would make decent monitors. (In my mind. But then, I hate loud stage volume.) And from what I've seen, $300 per unit is pretty good. You would need some subs, but you could probably get continuous spl of around 118 db. Like I said, they would make decent monitors. I usually reach for my earplugs when I see a band set them up but they might be serviceable with proper EQ and driven at reasonable levels.
