Compact Mixer with Aux Send

Recommended Posts

Pretty much all compact mixers only have an insert, and no stereo aux send. Take a look at this desk: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/802.aspx

It's an 8 channel mixer, no sliding faders make it ultra compact, and it is the only mixer in their range that has no sliding faders AND a stereo aux return for external stereo effects.

The problem is, 8 channels is not enough. I need 10 or 12.

So, I am NOT asking for opinions on whether or not I should get such a mixer. But I am asking if anybody knows of a mixer like the Xenyx 802 by any manufacturer, but with 10 or 12 channels, that includes XLR inputs, the stereo aux returns, and no sliding faders... (because I need to fit it in a space about 27 x 26cm)

Thankies :smiley-bounce012:

Let me see if I understand this...

You are not asking if you should get such a mixer but you want to know if it exists?

I don't think you will find such a beast (in the analog world) because it does not exist and because it does not exist, I do not think you should get one.

Does this suit your logic well?

Hello. Well it has been a while since my last post but have been lurking getfing some good info from some posts And Just Reading . I was I guess in the same position as some people here where there new and ask what they may think might be a Ok question or just fishing for some info because they are not as experienced and just want some help. This may or may not be cool I have no idea but what seems to be the case is a few and we know who they are when they answer a question that they think is silly or that isn't one of the few that were in the playground first then they answer in a way that comes off as a little aggressive. I think people who post should also be aware that this is the way it is. Post what ever you would like but just understand that this is not your playground and if you don't like it they will take there ball home and the game will be over. Also remember some people also have 20 30 40 50 100 years of knowledge here and you have none so if you don't get what you are looking for than post again and the same few will come and rescue you from your stupidity. To me reading some OPs posts that people don't like it's funny how the responses that always come up that always starts the banter comes from the same few. Sorry if I am rambling and I am sure as the sun will rise that it will always be the same few who invented audio will let you know that you are re soundly wrong.

To all who have never posted here before or are new and are thinking of it good luck we are counting on you and try not to suck.

Interesting that you should comment the way you did. You also have also come across as a somewhat disrespectful poster, telling us how we should have answered your questions that were filled with inaccurate information that got you inaccurate answers that you then pouted about. I tried to be helpful to you, but your chose to (re)act the way you did.

May I refresh your memory?

Also would like to point out that people do make mistakes once in a while including myself but in my case someone other then ur self was quick enough to see where the problem was and and brought it up in a nice way. I work in the same biz as you and work with people a lot like you . They have the same nice and cheerful way of pointing out your mistakes as you do. It must be difficult to go through life as smart as you.

Please if I post something in the future unless it is completely and totally wrong don't answer. It will not help me to read your post and I am sure anyone who reads my posts will know I don't know what I am talking about. Thanks

You are not getting it either.

Nobody here has a problem with making of mistakes. We all do that. It's HOW you respond when it's pointed out that you made a mistake, or misunderstood something, or presented bad/inaccurate information as fact that is primarily responsible for how you are perceived.

When I make a mistake (and this appears to apply to most of the mature pros here and elsewhere), i don't throw a tantrum and pout and tell somebody that I can't wait for them to die. I want to know more about why my information is bad, or use this as an opportunity to learn about advances in the industry that I don't have up to date information about. This is especially true in the IT side where standards change like underwear.

So I just re read my post that u provided a link for and as I suspected I asked a question and a few good answers even from aged and then the bs started. U have no biz being in the biz u are not qualified and should if u have to ask these questions and the sort of stuff. I find it hard to believe that even you sometimes look back at some of the answers you give to people and say maybe I was having a bad day or I just felt like giving it to them a little or something along those lines. Belive me I don't have to throw a tantrum and cry or weep but like I said in the pot I find it funny how the bs comes thru and them somebody tells you that not only me and them you tell them they are a baby. I am sitting with 20 people right now in a control room I built doing fashion week In nyc with 6 tricastksters 2 panasonic 450 an ls9 15 sony 2500 cams a ridel 5 sony robos 6 4 drop bar 800s and yet no one ask a thing about what you do or anything about yourself and just say you have no idea. Even if I didn't it still is no reason to answer the Way some people answer. I work with people all day long that you tell 10 times a day how to turn a headset on a 325 belt pack and I still don't give them ****. Like I said before I was helping a friend and I was looking for info and I figured out . I hope in the future that if I post that I have a better time and give and take a little easier.

Seriously, if you present yourself as a pro but have to ask the kinds of questions you asked (and then get indignent when obvious issues are brought up), you probably shouldn't be doing the job. Specifically, rigging and flying speakers that are not rated to fly (your error not mine), and the details that go along with this. There are professional certifications that are in place for tasks such as rigging for the safety of the riggers as well as the general public. A professional would know these things and not have to ask about flying uncertified products in a public occupancy space.

I am familiar with the Tricaster as well as the company going all the way back to the original Toster. That said, I would never pass myself off as a video production specialist because I am not as familiar with the product or even the industry as I would expect a professional to be. If I were to ask questions, even newbie questions, on a pro video forum, I would do so with respect for the professionals there who really know the product and workflow. If I became indignent and snarky, or told them their comments "weren't appreciated", I would expect to be treated accordingly. This is how professionals operate in just about every industry I am involved with.

Are some folks becoming more detached from social awareness these days, or am I becoming more sensitive to snark and disrespect?

You really don't get it. I never said i was flying anything myself. Get over it. I said I have people to do it. And yes I gave the wrong model number my mistake. But you just stay on it. You seem to have a filter that only allows certain I nfo thru. If you think I am disrespecting you then you are certainly not a aged veteran. If you were you would be able to take it just like you tell me. You know we can and will go ba k and forth because really I think you like it. And nothing makes me feel better then to go back and forth with you. Also I just gave you my back round and you still think I don't know enough to fly speakers that are not supposed to be flown. I mean really. You need to get over yourself and all of social awareness. It's killing you.

Guys is it possible the original post was misunderstood.

I assumed when the OP said  "I am not asking for opinions on whether or not I should get such a mixer" he was referring to the Xenyx and trying to avoid the thread being hijacked by people bashing Behringer products.

Admittedly his later behavious was unacceptable but i don't think he was looking to cause any mischeif in the first place - probably just guilty of poorly wording his question.

Cheers

Yes, maybe it's possible.

Art, the point that I have been trying to make is that clear, concise, and accurate communication skills are a necessity, they are not optional. If a mistake in either the question, the wording or the accuracy is made, admit it and rephrase, don't freekin' argue and act all butt hurt because somebody didn't cheerfully celebrate your mistaken argument and snark.

When on tour, if the call time for the bus to leave is 8am sharp, you show up at 8:05am and the bus is gone, how well would you expect a snarky argument over 8am "which time zone?" (or other pitiful excuse) would go over with a tour manager who can generally read between the lines faster than anybody (that's why they have the job). The way it should go down is that at your expense, you somehow meet up with the bus, you admit your screw-up, you appologize sincerely and MAYBE they will give you another chance... Many TM's don't even consider second chances if there is even a hint of snark. This is how this industry works, or at least my experience.

Maybe true on a tour bus but this is not true everywhere. People in my biz which is basically part your biz make excuses all day long about different things and they are the people who get promoted. The guy I am working with mixed Bruce Springsteen for 8 years foh. And depends who you are. He is reading this btw. I know your thinking I am just busting balls and being a jerk but this is not the case. I can and did admit to my mistake and I might have even said sorry but you also need to realize that if you have a bunch of people here saying you need to tone it done then maybe you should evaluate your response s as well. I know you are looking to give everybody the right info which is completely understand able but It seems to a fair amount of people and not just the people who know nothing at all that the responses from some are patronizing. I know I am hurt. I will get over it sometime in my life.

Hello. I think you guys have a great thing going on here and that's why I posted. I live and breathe diversity every day as I am born and raised in nyc hells kitchen. But what I will not take is condescending or patronizing comments made by others . I do not give them at work or personally unless that person knows who I am first and what I am about. As far as not being able to take the heat I have been taking heat my entire life so I know how to take and I know how to give it. I work in live TV production and if anyone here does the same they know about crazy people and how to take it.

Look at the end of the day I hope we can move on and I will continue to read and hopefully contribute to this forum because I think the info back and forth between you guys is great.

Thanks for putting up with me and hope to
talk again soon.

Not sure if you guys have noticed... but the OP has not been back since Saturday.

FWIW - I have the little Phonic Helix 12 he mentioned and it's been fine for recording, but recently found that one of the TRS output jacks has gone intermittent. :smileyfrustrated:

BTW - With almost ANY small form factor mixer you should have a handfull of TRS to XLR adapters handy...
