Members Weird Uncle Tim
NOT a disscussion on the relative merits of a drum machine vs a real drummer or no drums at all. Just want to hear from those who have used any or all of them for live play. PLEASE - NO HATERS!
Members steve mac
Am in the process of scoping them out too. Am in Texas at the moment so if I happen upon one in a music store here where it is considerably cheaper than home, will definitely pick one up. Have never tried one but am leaning towards the sr18 presuming that as a newer model will be all singing and dancing. Like you would love to hear from someone who has used one live. Members Weird Uncle Tim
In my research so far the SR18 is winning. It looks like they listened to the owners of the SR-16 and fixed what was missing (for a price). The Zoom is looking more like the not as pretty sister (no offense to not as pretty sisters). Members steve mac
Tim, just phoned Sam Ash in San Antonio and am picking up a SR18 tomorrow. Won't get a chance to "play" with it until I get home in a few weeks but if you haven't got one by then I will post a review. Cheers Steve
Members Weird Uncle Tim
Funny! I just ordered a used SR18 from Guitar Center in Austin Texas today. I found it on their website and called the store that had it to see what condition it was in. The guy told me it looked mint and still in the original box. It was the same price as a new SR-16, so I figured I can't lose. I'll let you know how I like it. (I should get mine by Monday)
Members steve mac
So I have been trying my SR18 in hotel rooms and what strikes me is that the preset patterns although demonstrating how good this device is, are really not suitable for my set list or at least not without a lot of customization, so it looks like something else to learn as I will be creating my own. Deep joyCheers Steve
Members tlbonehead
I really wish someone would make a good rhythm box with good basic drum patterns. I've never found one that I really like. I currently have a Dr Rhythm DR-3, mainly because it was cheap and no worse than the others.
