Our old promo picture was taken back in the days when you needed an 8x10 B&W Glossy. So I had a friend take the picture (she used to work in a photo studio), then I edited it, putting the dark halo around it, cropping it, and finally adding our name. I think it turned out OK. Also not a fan of heavy vignetting. Agree that the photographer should get a lot tighter - heads, shoulders, part of the sax, part of the guitar. The casino that needed a color picture in a hurry can have this one, but we need to do a new one as soon as the busy season ends. The kind of folks you could hire to play your back yard party and wouldn't have to worry about getting appropriate music and appropriate behaviour. Best of both worlds kind of thing. But the new shot is on the back burner. The shopping cart on my http://www.nortonmusic.com business got purchased by a big company, and that is requiring me to re-write shopping cart code for over 500 items. But then, I like being busy. I got the code re-written on about 100 items on my nortonmusic.com website, 400 and some to go - I've got mouse-itis. I used Dreamweaver (after Adobe bought and killed the program I was using before) which was very expensive and I hated using it, but it was the "standard" at the time. Now it generates old-fashioned code that doesn't work on some browsers. And I can't use many sites (anything from google, particularly) because my own browser is deprecated (too old, but so's my computer). These are sites that worked fine for years, now they break stuff and don't care? I'm afraid I'll have to bite the bullet and either get someone to re-code my important sites or buy an iPad and learn yet another new program. I'm tired of learning new programs. I write my websites on notepad now. I just type out the code. At least it won't go obsolete. Changing the code to adapt to the new shopping cart isn't hard, but it's very time consuming. I've done the most expensive items, and am now working on the little things. I have abour 400 to go. In the old shopping cart I used cgi forms, now I have to submit each product to the shopping cart (a PITA 3 or 4 step process) and it supplies a link to their cart. Granted it's much more secure, and the new site has the latest PCI safeguards in place, but I've already done this once - in a different way. I'm doing a lot of work with no apparent progress.
