Return of the Nudist Camp gig this Halloween - what should we wear?

Last year Leilani died a pair of my BVDs and a t-shirt flesh colored, and she wore a nude colored unitard. We cut out black rectangles and affixed them over our 'privates' and across our eyes (with sunglasses so we could see out). So we looked like the censored nudes in a 1950s-60s magazine. It was a hit and the audience loved it.

It was the first party I ever played where half the party goers started out naked ;)

Well they liked us so much they asked us back again.

I still have the T shirt and BVD's, perhaps a fig leaf?

Any other ideas? They have a great sense of humor, but I don't want to offend anyone either.

why not just go au naturel...everyone else there will...and of course, we will want pix...no, then again, maybe not...wink.png

a carefully placed guitar may help...

when you switch to the wind synth, you are on your own...

but, if you need a stand for a clarinet...oh, never mind....

Clarinet stand :D - I think I'm glad you didn't make any jokes about the flute ;)

Ah, I'm no prude, but if I looked better nude, I just might.

When we did the gig last year, half were nude, half wore costumes, and some of the costumes revealed things you can't in a PG movie. Not everybody there has great bodies, there are all shapes and sizes, but I guess I'm not quite ready for that - so I'll join the costumed crowd.

We're learning "I Don't Look Good Naked Anymore" for another client, so I think I'll pull that song out on the Nudist gig.

Is that Peter Sellers in the picture? Don't tell me the guitar has F holes :0 (Is this OK DaddyMack?)

Reminds me of when I was young and in my first pro band. We were traveling to a gig, and passed a drive-in movie. In big red letters on the marquee was the name of the actor Peter Sellers, and in small letters underneath the name of the movie (I forget which one it was). Our drummer said something like, "I didn't know they had a porn drive-in here." He obviously thought "Peter Sellers" was the name of the movie.

Back to the gig.

We have to sign a contract that stipulates no pictures can be taken on the grounds, so you won't see our costumes - whatever we decide on. And looking at me, you probably don't want pics - I'm 68 and a half years old now, way past my prime. The only thing buff is the top of my head :smiley-lol:

I'm still thinking about the fig leaf. The cardboard rectangles were cute, but they got in the way of the instruments from time to time.

If anyone has any other ideas that are fun and practical for someone switching instruments all night, let me know.

One of my very first gigs was at a strip club. I was 18 years old, and the girls would come on and disrobe while we played music. It's a good thing the band was sitting down for the gig. ;) The girls were nice to us and had their favorite songs. We were glad to oblige. Music was all memorized (who wants to keep their eyes on a chart?).

At 68 1/2, the hormones aren't quite as intense, so the fig leaf should cover anything that might arise.

I was sitting in the tub just counting my toes

When the radiator broke and the water froze

I got stuck in the ice without any clothes

Naked as the eyes of a clown

I was crying ice cubes, hoping that I'd croak

When the sun come through the window and the ice all broke

I said "son of a gun", man, that's just a joke

That's the way that the world goes 'round

hope this helps

Funny, one of my first ever paying gigs was in a strip club too...ruined it for me. You get to know the girls, hear their stories, and it just isn't sexy or fun anymore. Also, years ago, I did a gig at a well known nudist camp here in LA [i know I have documented tha there before]... the real trick is to imagine the audience fully dressed... ;)

and, IIRC, the guitar Peter Sellers was using was a regular folk model...[the pic is from 'A Shot in the Dark'], and no conjecture as to whether the sound hole was a tight fit or not. ;)
