Other songs with that bass sound:

"Broken Wings," Mr. Mister

"Danger Zone," Kenny Loggins

"What Is Love?" Howard Jones

"Something About You," Level 42

"Torture," The Jacksons

"She's Fresh," Kool & The Gang

Wansn't the whole point of Level 42 that they had a real slap bass player? I find it hard to believe that Mark "what's his name" didn't play in that song.

I was thinking the same thing, except in "Something About You" it really does sound like a synth bass was used. I guess it's kind of like how in Van Halen's "Jump" you hear more of Eddie playing an Oberheim instead of his FrankenStrat...

Maybe Yamaha will make a MOTIF DX?

They already do. There is an expansion card for the Motif which is essentially a DX-7 on a card.

Even better is the Fs1r which is like 4 DX-7's in a rackmount with updated effects and other new features. It's Yamaha's most powerful FM synth ever made pretty much.
