Hell, I'll even throw in the MCR-03 memory card and Plus 1 program card for an extra... hmmm... let's say $100. Yeah, that sounds about right. Members kpatz
I bet it's shill bidders. Look at the bid history. Mostly the same guy with 0 feedbacks. 30 bids on an M1 is crazy too.
Members pighood
The Plus 1 upgrade is a MAJOR one. Makes it nearly a T.
Members Nightsynth
I bet it's shill bidders. Look at the bid history. Mostly the same guy with 0 feedbacks. I thought the same thing, but then there's another one on the way up... http://cgi.ebay.com/Korg-M1-Music-Workstation-w-Hard-carrying- 21 bids on this one and the two top bidders duking it out are different than the other two. $510 at the moment with almost 4 days left. I think paying over $350 - $400 for an M1 is crazy. I don't think I would ever sell mine, but if some uninformed buyer is willing to pay $1000+, I might have to reconsider... I'm sure it's a fluke thing this week. Apparently it's a good week to sell an M1
Members Nightsynth
The Plus 1 upgrade is a MAJOR one. Makes it nearly a T. Yeah, it's cool. It's different, sound wise, than the EX upgrade (which is the same as the T series). There's some unique stuff in the sound set. Really nice acoustic guitar, awesome violin!, mallets, and some good ethnic and somewhat atmospheric samples (i.e. rainstick and one called "harpliek"). It's still a quite useable synth with a great keybed, but not for that much dough.

Members Outkaster
M-1 should not go for maybe $500 at the most with a case and cards. $960 is too much. Some idiot bid on it with no feedback.
Members The Audacity Works
Back in the retail days, Mexican customers used to drive over the border and ask for M1s and O1/Ws all the time. I later discovered that pretty much every band on Telemundo and Univision from '98-'04 used M1s or O1Ws. It was like pulling teeth to get them into a Triton. They'd gladly pay Triton prices for an M1, because that's what they used to seeing. Maybe in five years they'll be asking for Trinities.
Members Outkaster
Well the same with bands out of Jamaica I have worked with. The A41 piano cuts great through a mix. I would not use it with most music but for Caribbean style stuff a whole music has been built around that piano sound. Some guys do use Tritons but people want M-1s all the time on riders even 20 years later.

Members ElectricPuppy
They're only going up ... Bizarre! Why?? Did someone just release a top-ten hit with one of these, or what? Maybe I should get mine fixed and sell it while it's hot.

Members Dharma Techster
Even over here in Europe, where prices tend to be higher than in the states, I'd feel like a class A moron if I paid more than US$ 400 for an M1. An 01/W is a much more exciting instrument, and you can get those pretty cheap these days. It's not like the M1 is some rarity; after all it is the most sold synthesizer of all time (possibly number two after the DX7).
Members Diametro
But the Juno's not analog! It's got DCOs! /runs and hides MY TAKE: It's vintage, sounds great, looks awesome, has great MIDI implementation, very affordable still and once you get past the chip issues, reliable. Easy to mess around with and that very wide sweet spot, perfect for performance-oriented tweakers, beginners and those with basic tastes (which is totally acceptable to me ... Even as I go farther still with synth, sound and sample and effects mangling, I also find myself attracted to the basic tones and making them work in the context of a song and live performance ... I love mines. I'm picking up a third this weekend most likely (probably to re-sell at the right time ... ) They are hardly the last analog synths I'll ever own (hello Jup-6, 8) ... but as the high-end prices continue to climb, so will Juno-106 ... There will always be a subset of preformers/musicians who MUST play vintage gear ... I believe this number is increasing, not decreasing ... the pool of available analog
Members kpatz
It's a shame I don't still have my O1/W. I could sell it for a grand. The last live band I saw (last summer) had a Korg T3. Basically an upgrade to the M1. Last time I checked, DCOs still count as analog. That Prophet 8 rack looks nice. I'm hoping Alesis someday releases an Andromeda rack, or an "Andy Lite" with 8 voices instead of 16 for a good chunk cheaper.

I don't think Alesis will EVER release a new hardware synth unless somehow the market changes radically ... However, maybe they'll sell the design to someone else to update and manufacture ... 'cause I'm still interested in one ... but I think it needs an update/re-vamp ...
