  • OT: Recommend me some good female vocalists please

I need a change in my MP4 players listings as it is getting stale and I am looking for some recommendations of good female vocalists to look for. Not the usual Tori Amos, etc crowd but something a little different and with bite someone who isn't afraid to push the limits of there vocalization and go really low and guttural to soaring highs.

    Many thanks

    Tris etc

I used to dislike Joni Mitchell until I heard Hejira. There was another album from that time period (early 70s) that also had Jaco on bass, but I forget the name of it.

I'm not sure about who you consider to be in the usual Tori Amos, etc crowd, but Bj

As far as female voices go, I've seldomly been impressed by anyone else after hearning Loreena Mckennitt.

Plus she plays keys (piano and the occasional accordion...)

Meh, Imogen Heap and Orisha are probably not wild enough, then.
