Has anyone here encountered a dead key on their Electro?

Does any know anything about the keyboards or the contacts on these?

I have a friend with one, and she's bringing it by for me to look at this weekend.

I thought that if any of you were familiar with it, it could save a bit of time.

Thanks in advance!

So I discovered something about the rubber-dome-style keybeds while I was monkeying around with my little side project... The domes have a little breather hole to allow air to move in and out of the dome as it goes up and down. (Otherwise you wouldn't be able to press it down). The actual contact is just a conductive carbon pattern.

Seems to me that if you were to play in a smokey or dusty invironment, these keyboards invite dust and particles to get sucked into the domes where they can live forever and get in the way of the contacts.

Anyway... That might be a cause of your dead key. It might also be a bad or poorly soldered matrix diode for that key. That turned to the be the problem with one of the buttons on my MPC, the button itself was fine.
