Members eeli0s
don't waste yer time reading any further than this if you don't have a solution. I looked through 20+ pages of Google and forum searches for "portable synthesizer" and found nothing. Are there any portable (battery-powered) analoge modeling synths that have at least 10 knobs/sliders besides the Roland Gaia and Novation X Station? It must have at least 10 knobs so no micron, microkorg, etc suggestions. thanks.
Members Unfed
well, there's not much in the way of battery powered VA synths at all. and why "at least 10 knobs/sliders"? how about an SH-101 or MC-202?
Members ElectricPuppy
Awww darn, there's one that's got 9.5 knobs, but I won't waste your time. So close.

Members eeli0s
thanks for suggestions. please must have a keyboard so no mc-202 stuff. I want lotsa knobs/sliders so i can tweak its and VST paramaters without a menue dive. hrm, sh-101 from 1983 is true analog and battery powered. Members Quru
I'm not sure if this meets your portable-requirements, but it has 8+1 knobs and can be usb-powered. So if you are also carrying laptop with you, it might be the solution. http://rekkerd.org/img/201009/novation_ultranova.jpg But if the synthesizer needs to be battery powered, I think the only knobbyish VA out there is the Gaia. Members wwwjd
But OP already mentioned the X Station in his first post. good point. I recorrect my standing corrected. Does an old SH-101 have any midi? hard to control VSTs without it I would think. My Oxygen49 doesn't need any batteries since it is powered via USB, features 8 sliders, 8 knobs, and one volume slider. I guess that is considered portable - but doesnt inlcude sounds IN IT. Members Purity_Control
101 does not have MIDI, only cv/gate and i think possibly trig out. there are a lot of mods for it, afaik that's not one of them.
Members Chando
The SH-101 has trig in for the sequencer. Which is totally tits. Too bad it doesn't have the most diverse sound in the world. Get the original Novation BassStation keyboard. Much more diverse. Or if you're feeling cute and limited ... a Yamaha CS-01. Funny how the smaller you get .. the more analog it gets.
Members wwwjd
so this two poster guy will not be able to "tweak its and VST paramaters without a menu dive" like he wants with a 101. i wonder if he will waste his time reading this since we don't have a solution? Members tape
vst parameters in a synth? what? oh and 1. Versatility as you want it 2. Portability/batteries 3. 10 knobs pick any 2 out of 3. I think "portability" is the limiting factor here.
Members eeli0s
vst parameters in a synth? what? No, i mean it as to tweak software vst paramaters.
Members FLNagle
I personally find it very strange that you disqualified the Gaia and the X Station in your original post, because I think those are the two best solutions for what you're looking for. I'd give both of them another look. They're both really great synths and controllers in my opinion!
Members tape
I used to own the xstation 25. it was fantastic!
Members Casio Man
X-Station! Heckload of knobs and sliders and buttons that can be multiplied to 100+ with shift buttons, really good feeling keyboard with aftertouch, joystick and x-y-pad, which I love. I had Supernova 2, but I actually liked this better!
