Total scam. I replied to the ad and this was the response I got:

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in my Alesis Andromeda A6 Synthesizer

Keyboard. As mentioned on my ad , the selling price is US$ 1200.00 .

It

is a small price for this, but I need to sell it real quick since the

doctors recently discovered that I have diabetes and I need money for

the treatment ( like many of us, I am unemployed) . I recently moved

to Hibing, Minnesota looking for work and I listed this on craiglist

since I tried here to sell it with no luck. If you want to buy it , I

will pay all delivery fees and we can do this by a very secure method

for both . We can use eBay for this ( they will secure this

transaction by using one of their lawyers to receive your payment and

hold it until you receive the item from me and inspect it ) . If you

want to know more about this, just let me know.

So you're saying you don't trust ebay's lawyers??!!!

I'm sorry to hear these scumbags have gotten hip to the allure of the Andromeda. This is a disturbingly well written "script". Often there are tell-tale West Africanisms in these emails, such as leaving out the personal pronoun in sentences ("Am a petroleum engineer working in Nigeria...") and constantly using the term "Item".

Just in case anyone reading is new to this, Craigslist is only for local, cash and carry transactions, ebay doesn't run an escrow service or have "transaction managing" lawyers, and any transaction involving Western Union or Moneygram is a scam.

DANG IT! I already dropped my credit card in an envelope and mailed it to him. I'll be gone for a few days as I chase after that mail delivery truck across the nation....

My kids are already working in a coal mine for this guy. Too bad I don't have kids. I had to scam somebody else to get some for him.
