I'll get one on Ebay when they go for 250 bucks - like the Trinity does at the moment. And remember: the Trinity got just as much oohs and aaahs and hype back then as the Kronos does now (and it was even warranted), so there!

10 years is a long time for wishful thinking

I have a 61 on order. Weight and size made the choice of 61 easy. The fact that I am confident it can easily replace stuff I could put on eBay for about $2k made it seem much more affordable.

It's just another run-of-the-mill boring workstation that sounds bland and everything it can do can be done with a computer at 1/10 of the price so no, I am not getting a Kronos.

Yes, I'm cranky because I too prepared to be amazed. But there just ain't no font sizes large enough to express the 'meh' of overwhelming indifference I felt when they announced it.

          That's all, carry on kids.

You cannot be more mistaken, pal... Kronos sounds every bit like OASYS sounds (which is not "boring" or "bland", only an idiot can claim that), and it even raises it up a notch or two.

I'd love to have one. BUT I don't really need one. I've got some perfectly capable gear that, collectively, does everything the Kronos can. I admit, though, that it would be nice to reduce my gear footprint to just one board. And, the acoustic piano sounded really nice.

Yeah. I dunno, would love one, but...

The beauty of Kronos is that it makes so much other stuff obsolete, while still being a tightely integrated package with immediate and predictable results (something a computer can't really do perfectly yet).

My personal vision of the ultimate keyboard rig is a Kurzweil PC3K8 on the bottom and a Kronos 61 on the top, I think they would play mighty nice together using the Kurzweil's Setup mode and controllers and getting B3 and piano sounds from the little guy. If the PC3K8 had an audio in with access to its effects it would be perfect.

we'll see how bold my credit card is feeling when the time comes.

I'm new to this synth business, but not to electronics in general. Won't the Kronos likely be obsolete in a year or 2? There's always something coming down the pike...

Not in a year or two (unless someone else has something HUGE in their final stages of development already), but maybe in 5...

Right now the Kronos makes obsolete:
. pretty much all digital pianos with the possible exception of the V-Piano which is much more expensive. Why even think of buying a CP-1, RD700NX, etc now?...
. all other workstations or ROMplers which still have compressed samples (yet if you're a Kurzweil fan you won't admit it's not quite there)
                              . having a Korg CX-3 (which isn't cheap)

When you look at what it packs under the hood, it's so much more than the current competitors, it's a huge step forward.

My personal vision of the ultimate keyboard rig is a Kurzweil PC3K8 on the bottom and a Kronos 61 on the top, I think they would play mighty nice together using the Kurzweil's Setup mode and controllers and getting B3 and piano sounds from the little guy. The piano in the Kronos is way, way better than the Kurz. So it would probably be much better to have a PC361 on top and the Kronos 88 at the bottom.
