Members evildragon
It's the most analog sounding softsynth that uses a new method of modeling analog components (calculates feedback with predictors instead of utilizing a one sample delay unit in the feedback loop), with a lot more precision than what was previously available (yes, even on hardware VAs). Yes, it needs a lot of CPU to do that. And yes, you can hear why it needs that CPU. It sounds organic and alive... analog, in fact. Well, take a listen for yourselves, these are examples from a beta version, which should go public beta soon: http://www.u-he.com/music/DivaBellyBass.wav http://www.u-he.com/music/DN2.wav http://www.u-he.com/music/DivaSubBass.wav http://www.u-he.com/music/DivaNoodle.wav http://www.3amnoise.net/diva_demo_01.wav http://www.3amnoise.net/diva_demo_02.wav http://draigathar.org/sounds/Diva-beta1.wav http://draigathar.org/sounds/Diva-beta2.wav http://draigathar.org/sounds/Diva-3.wav http://draigathar.org/sounds/Diva-4.wav http://draigathar.org/sounds/Diva-5.wav http://draigathar.org/sounds/Diva-6.wav http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2148367/Happy_Diva_Birthday.wav http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2148367/Pads.wav http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lisa.millington/Diva303.wav http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lisa.millington/divaDG.wav http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lisa.millington/sample+holdDG.wav http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lisa.millington/DivaStringsDG.wav http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2148367/Running_for_the_money.wav http://www.bronto-scorpio-music.com/Music/DIVAsimple.mp3 http://www.bronto-scorpio-music.com/Music/DIVApluck.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5646041/Audio/DivaSyncbass .mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5646041/Audio/DivaSynclead .mp3 :thu:

Members evildragon
ACE is brilliant, as well. Also CPU hungry, but amazing sounding (all modulations are audio rate!). Check out Bazille (currently v0.4 alpha available), which is like ACE, but phase modulation and phase distortion based, and has double the modules of ACE. It's a part of u-he Berlin Modular series, which is ongoing work in progress. Link: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=258683

Members Meatball Fulton
If it's even more CPU intensive than ACE then it's probably unusable for me Nice to see a few people are doing "CPU be damned" designs (Aalto is another one) in order to model analog better. Members Meatball Fulton
Next year is great time for upgrading your computer. I know I'm going all Sandy Bridge/16 GB DDR3 on mine I hate the idea of spending $1000+ so I can run a $100 softsynth :poke: No Sandy Bridge for me, I work for AMD gotta stay loyal
Members evildragon
Diva is going to be in the range of $149 to $199, Urs is contemplating about it still. My PC is 4 years old so it's due for an upgrade anyways... Well, suit yourself, Intel still whoops AMD's ass big time. Sure they're more expensive, but they simply perform better. AMD has the price/performance ratio and lower end of the market, I guess.
Members Bernard
So far have listened to the first five.... Sorry just plain, nothing analog about it... I will report back later on the rest... Its not bad, just not what you claim... Dear Korg please keep working on D analogs KTHXBYE

Members evildragon
Go get your ears cleaned and checked, mate. This is sounding and behaving like an analog synth. I can't wait the blind tests that are bound to show up sooner or later. You'd likely fail it.

Members Yoozer
move along nothing good to hear here.... News flash: demo sounds say more about the author than about the machine used. Go test it yourself. It doesn't come with presets. Pick the dual VCO, whip up a bog-standard double saw w/ lowpass filter. Just dry, no unison tricks - it sounds really rich. One problem with emulations is suspension of disbelief. We've got a whole generation of people who were miffed that they could not modulate the flux capacitor while froodling the hobgnarx on a Jupiter 6 because Roland couldn't include more modulation routings so their patches tend to deviate from the regular sound you associate with analog. Start with just the basics, dry, and hear for yourself. Me - I always gravitate back to simple Juno/Moog-ish patches, and that's where this excels. It's great that it could do the other stuff too but most important to me - it sounds already great in "simple mode".
Members Meatball Fulton
Wow, maybe I do need a new computer. I dl-ed the beta, fired up a simple MiniMoog patch and watched the CPU load jump to 80 percent playing one note OK, I was able to try a few other things and get usage down to about 20% per note... Very clever idea, though. Need to listen some more.
Members evildragon
Damn, you have an old computer, then! I can play monophonic and duophonic sounds at the highest quality taking about 10% of my 4 year old CPU (Intel Core2Duo E4400 @ 2 GHz)...

It sounds pretty enough that it can fool a lot of people, I guess. I'll stick to my modular. No interest....the one softsynth I use occasionally is aalto. Members evildragon
No real grit to it? How about downloading it and trying it out yourself? There's tons of grit inside, especially with the Sallen-Key filter (Korg MS-20).
Members trainset
Man I keep meaning to buy ACE, maybe I'll wait for Diva I run a couple of analogs (when I say a couple I do mean 2 lol) but I love to have software in there as well...the samples sound good, adding a bit of grit is always easy and if your PC cant handle it just make sure youve got a freeze function
Members gregwar
i downloaded the demo haven't had tons of time to experiment but so far really like the sound. the drift on the osc can be a little extreme but there's tweaks for that. the mod matrix is rad. can't wait until some intense sound designers make baddass patches for it so i can see more of its potential
Members Bernard
I am not into softsynths but if I was going to buy one ''Blue'' would be high on the list. Just sounds very nice. Not saying Diva will not sound nice, just its in a big market of good sounding synths: [video=youtube;-2qgBvkeeus]
