Members johnbarnesiii
Hello, Is there a way to bring more than 2 audio outs to the iPad, vis a vis some docking station or small mixer unit? This is for live sequencer playback, where I'll need stereo outs to my keyboard amp, then separate click out to the drummer's headphones.
Members MacMoog
Have you checked out Tascam or other iPad audio interfaces? http://www.theusbsoundcard.com/category/ipad-audio/
Members donaldcrunk
AFAIK, ios is limited to stereo out for the time being. someone please correct me if i'm wrong!

Members donaldcrunk
consider purchasing perhaps an inexpensive drum machine to sync to your tracks via MIDI, most of the ipad docks have this available. that would allow the drummer to have control over his own independent click - and some drummers find it more comfortable to play along with a drum machine. might be a decent workaround. Members johnbarnesiii
Its been awhile... anyone heard about new versions of what was spoken of here in this thread? A unit that allows multiple audio outputs from an iPad for live playback of backing tracks at shows.
Members Etienne Rambert
I use an Alesis ioDock. One of the best musical purchases I've made.
Members johnbarnesiii
Thanks Etienne, I have considered the Alesis ioDock, but not sure if it has enough outputs. How many audio outputs does it give you?
Members Etienne Rambert
Thanks Etienne, I have considered the Alesis ioDock, but not sure if it has enough outputs. How many audio outputs does it give you? Two in -- two out -- not counting headphone. Fantastic gadget. But you need an adapter cable for the new ipads. It has the old 30 pin connection. I just finished this on it this week. cE_5gCMqrH4
Members AnotherScott
I don't know if the OS supports it, but it would be cool if you could direct some sounds to the headphone output while directing other sounds to the audio that goes through the docking port. That would seem to be the easiest way to get up to 4 channels of audio out, if the OS supports directing audio to different places.
Members donaldcrunk
IOS is still stereo out only, i doubt that will change for the foreseeable future - dock or no dock.
Members Sinner6
donaldcrunk. that is incorrect. I use Cubasis on an iPad, and have full access to all the individual outs on my Focusrite Scarlett interface.
Phil O'Keefe
Yup - if you use the right audio interface (such as the Focusrite Scarlett), it's possible to have more than just stereo I/O on an iPad. Here's a link to a Scarlett that will give your iPad 6 outputs: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/focusrite-scarlett-6i6-audio-interface This one will give you considerably more I/O, although it costs more... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/focusrite-scarlett-18i20-audio-interface
