Members bruto
I just picked up a Yamaha TG33 last night from Craigslist. $100 including a Voice Card. Here's a quick demo I made (all sounds are the TG33.) http://soundcloud.com/astrozon/yamaha-tg33-demo Interesting little box. I only used the Vector Control on the first sample. There are D50 and Prophet sounds as well as funky FM stuff on the edges. All very mid-fi and a definitive move away from Yamaha's 80s stalwart FM sounds. Members KingVidiot
The first part reminded me of Tomita. I like my TG-33 for experimentation and drones. Eventually I was going to try to get the vector stick to also control my Wavestation SR, but I don't know yet if they are compatible.
Members AnalogGuy
The very first part was absolutely fantastic. Love such textures. Was it preset or did you program something your own?
Members mikelpanky
Proud owner of a 33. Traded my SY22 with hardcase + $50 for the TG and a Korg DDD-1 drum machine a few months back. Some really cool sounds. I've got a few good all-TG songs (including a horribly cheesy version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" ) that I'll dig up if I can find them. Members bruto
The very first part was absolutely fantastic. Love such textures. Was it preset or did you program something your own? Let's see...The first part is a patch called SL*VCO and a tiny bit of SL:Mini (last 8th of each measure.) I was moving the joystick around as the sequence played. And thanks for the other comments as well. Looks like we have quite the TG33 community here.

Members bruto
OK, here's another: http://soundcloud.com/astrozon/bell-street The main chord progression is a patch called SP*BelSt. Bass is off the TG33 too. Drums are Mick Fleetwood acid loops. Fmin7, Ebmin7, Bbmin7, Abmin7, all inversions.
Members triton76
my first synth was a new Yamaha SY35. I was better at guitar at that time so I was more into the sound programming. My buddy who played piano was checking it out one time and he was surprised by the sounds. He's says "what the hell do you play with this stuff?" Years later I picked up a TG33 but the magic was gone for me
Members bruto
I searched SoundCloud for TG33 and found this by SystemRestoreSound: http://soundcloud.com/systemrestoresound/tg33-vector In fact, SystemRestoreSound has a lot of cool electronica: http://soundcloud.com/systemrestoresound/sets/electronic/
Members zoink
I'm surprised to see so much love for the TG33. I like mine, but my impression was that most people saw it as the ugly half brother of the Wavestation.

I like mine, but my impression was that most people saw it as the ugly half brother of the Wavestation. Not ugly, but certainly not endearing in style either. It resembles a security camera control station. I think every hardware synth has a fanbase of some sort. I did a quick search on SoundCloud for some of my nerd boxes: Yamaha FB01: http://soundcloud.com/chaosmoon/schoorl-v1 Casio VL-Tone: http://soundcloud.com/micklh/casio-vl-tone-demo Roland MT-32: http://soundcloud.com/lagezon/lagezon-mt32-pentamouse Casio SK-1: http://soundcloud.com/ontheroadtodenver/casio-sk-1-
Members AlanCornerMyth
Yeah, if it makes sound, there's probably at least a small community around it. Even RadioShack toy pianos, like the Concertmate 370. I have one around here somewhere...

Members Suilebhain
I've always been intriguied by the TG-33 and almost pulled the trigger on one a few years back but it wasn't $100 with a Voice Card, it was more like $150 without. Spunkytoofers did a really interesting circuit bend on one a few years back. http://spunkytoofers.com/hottopic/?p=
Members dsc
You can update the look a bit. I backlit the knobs on mine and recast them in clear polyester resin.
Members FullSynthetic
I just came by to clarify, I used software simulations to create that vl-tone composition. (I like perfect timing and modulation;) Actually my real motive was to say I decided this handle worked better for my music. As a result: The 404'd link is now here: http://soundcloud.com/full-synthetic/casio-vl-tone-demo
