  • i actually took a new picture of the Mank:

also you might want to know that banana jacks are available for those who ask nicely, as long as the construction allows. i think the new EU format modules would look great with your Serge.

      • I procured a more ergonomic (i.e. lower with non-scalloped edges), much larger desk ... (a dining table if you want to be specific ... )

so the X-Station has place to roam for my fingers to roam when I'm "working ... " or even just on hold ...

(I'm glad I didn't sell it when I was considering it during the Micron/Fusion sell-off ... Such a strange and utterly ordinary useful nicely made jack-of-all trades device/synth ... Runs off USB or batteries, audio interace, knobby control surface that's more synth-like and less generic controller 101, an on-board VA synth, effects and a neat performance controller in joystick/x-y pad ... nice ... though I still ultimately want to key a keytar out of mine ... )

add in one of these babies tomorrow I found on Craigslist tonight ....

I do not get it. I don't have any GAS for the Blofeld, not even the keyboard. It would be different when they get around the Stromberg, even most of the features are already implemented into the Blofeld. The one thing missing is the Waveterm features. I have better samplers with real analog filters. But I do not like to use the computer to work with the XT to create my own wavetables. I wish they would put the Waveterm/Wave features into that box too.

                    I was like you, once.

The Blofeld is a very capable synth with a surprisingly cozy UI. It's not perfect at all. I described the filters as sounding like a pig's ass, and I stand by that - very digital. It's nowhere near the quality of sound that the Monomachine can generate. But it's got a very economical price for the power that it provides, and that's why I ended up getting it. It's totally unnecessary if you already have a nice poly VA, though.

You would think that Waldorf has the good filter algorithm pinned down. At least my XT sounds very nice.

Nope, no GAS yet. Just checked again.

                      • I think the filters are the thing that people either love or hate. Personally, I dislike the way they sound when the resonance is turned up. It seems to jump from no resonance to pins-in-your-ears with no subtlety in between. But I've also not spent a ton of time with it yet. I also plan to use my outboard analog filters quite a lot with it.

Glad to help you restrain your GAS. I'm sure someone else will enable it for you, however. It's what happens here.
