Members undercool Posted July 28, 2014 Members Share Posted July 28, 2014 I find myself running into a bit of a brick wall with this, so crossing over from the guitar and band side to Keys & Synths. All I want to do is two things - 1) play my own samples from a keyboard on stage and 2) play piano/synth on stage - using my iOS device and the iRig Keys (which seems to be the best option since it talks directly to the iOS). We play some 80s/90s rap and I have some samples that really enhance the songs. I've got #2 under control, I think. But #1 is proving to be a pain in my ignorant arse.Sampletank, which came with iRigKeys, doesn't allow me to play my samples. What APP is out there for a reasonable price that can do this? Anything? Members AnotherScott Posted July 28, 2014 Members Share Posted July 28, 2014 If you want to play the samples chromatically from the MIDI keyboard, there are apps like these that can play custom samples and/or soundfonts that you can assemble on your computer: BS-16i http://www.bismark.jp/bs-16i/index.html Soundfont Pro http://www.itimsystems.com/product-soundfontpro/ Caustic http://www.singlecellsoftware.com/caustic (I think 3.1 adds MIDI keyboard playability from iOS) MIDI Keyboard/MIDI Sampler/ME MIDI Sampler http://www.ngcybit.it/iTunesApp/music/ (it's a little unclear as to how these apps are different from each other) If you want to trigger the sample from on-screen pads on the iDevice itself, there are other apps for that.
