Members dirtydumpling
Okay, So this is my newly acquired Gretsch Catalina Club, I do not really play drums, but I got them for my studio. I would like to get new chrome hardware for it and stain it a different color. Not being a drummer, the hardware, hoops and all are all foreign territory for me. What sites do I use to search for hardware, and how do I determine their compatibility with my kit. Also, feel free to comment on your preference of Hoop style, I prefer a low sustain and a deeper bass sound. It appears that there is no poly or lacquer finish on the drums, it just feels like grainy wood, would it be possible for me to finely sand it down and then apply my own stain? If so, should I only stain it if all of the other previous color has been removed? Also, I looked on the Gretsch website to try and order lugs and all, and there was nothing there! Where do I find lugs? Do I just bring my kit to a music store? Any other thoughts or words of wisdom for the noob is welcome
