Members willbill0587
I have an Ampeg bass head but it was bought in the states and I use it in the UK so I need and am using a transformer thing to regulate the voltage from UK 230/240 to US 110. I was wondering if I could change something in the actual amp to not need this transformer thing? Does that make sense?
Members Jazz Ad
* DISCLAIMER * This is unofficial info based on experience and various sources. It may of may not work for you. By all means, a multimeter to make sure power supply outputs are legit before and after the mod is in order if you don't want to fry the poor thing. Ampeg use the same power supplies worldwide on most products. Switching a couple plugs is usually enough to convert the unit. 50 / 60 Hz isn't an issue and doesn't change anything. As for voltage changeover, it's all on the PC board near the mains plug. Each connector has a number, each wire has a colour. For 230 V : Switch wires on J8 and J9 Grey -> J16 White -> J17 Brown -> J18 Blue -> J19 Black -> J20 Hope it helps, don't {censored} up anything.
