Members swojo
Howdy Doodie all. I'm hoping some guru can assist on a technical question. I have an older Carvin Wireless System (S-4000) for a guitar. I don't know who made it for them. The 1/4" jack on the transmitter had a mini film capacitor soldered between the tip and the sleeve. The cap was used as a noise suppressor. From replacing the jack a couple of times, I burned the cap and do not know the correct value of it. Carvin no longer has any literature and cannot tell me. Any ideas on where I can start? Thanks!
Members Sir H C
What was the size of the cap. That should ballpark the value. Check out www.alliedelec.com or another site with their exhaustive listings of capacitors with the dimensions. Often you can find it that way. Or just try a 100pF and if that is not enough kick it up 1nF, 10nF etc.

Some of those film caps with the plastic packages are easy to melt the outside of with repeated solderings. I assume that is what has happened.
