Members Woodstock1969
The black wire is not connected to the pedal from the 9v clip...the red one is, and the pedal still works? Will I damage the pedal if I use it this way? Is it running at 4.5v or something, whats going on? I'm using a 9v battery, not an adapter.
Members WRGKMC
It must not be the bettery wire then. If the ground is broken to the battery, then theres no negative power, then there can be no power in the circuit, period. For a quick fix, strip the wire a little and clip it between the two snaps on the negative side of the battery. My guess is a Black wire is broken, but its not the one going to the battery, its probibly to a ground orthe adaptor plug or something. If you're measuring the voltage across the battery while its plugged in, and it reads 4.5v you are also measuring the load across the circuit so the voltage may very well be lower than measuring the battery unplugged. Its best to cut the plastic on the back of the snap and solder the wire back where its broken off if it is actually broken off the snap, then use a little hot glue to seal the plastic that covers the connections back up. If the wire is just hanging out in there, then its not from the bettery. It may go to the input jack (the input jack has 3 wires going to it so when you plug your jack in, it makes an electrical contact for the negative side of the battery)or it may go to the adaptor jack which "breaks" the contact to the battery and supplies the + & - directly to the circuit.
